    This position is responsible for assisting in management of the storage, compute, virtual or backup/recovery infrastructure in a highly dynamic environment. Work as part of a team in support of operational and project related activities. Provide technical and operational support and direction to other departments and teams as required in support of business objectives. Maintain standards and processes to enhance these environments

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Support technical strategies within the system administration area
    • Validates changes within the system administration area and validates process is followed
    • Support standards related to infrastructure based on vendor best practices and business requirements.
    • Team member of technologists in supporting EMC systems, VCE VBlocks, HP and VMware environments.
    • Ensures compliance to all departmental processes and procedures
    • Provide technical support for compute, storage and data retention related project activities.
    • Manage and modify systems to meet project and user requirements.
    • Apply system updates and patches to assure systems are maintained in accordance with established IT policies and procedures
    • Support documentation of technical standards and procedures
    • Assists in routine hardware and software audits of storage, compute and backup infrastructure to ensure compliance with established best practice standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
    • Adheres to security procedures
    • Assist in troubleshooting for all infrastructure systems
    • Supports the infrastructure for the development of custom applications
    • Provides technical and mentoring support for other technical staff both inside and outside the department
    • Ability to work irregular hours and assume on-call responsibilities as needed
    • Performs other duties as needed


    Essential Qualifications

    • 3 + years experience and/or a combination of education and/or vendor training/ certifications to demonstrate an advanced level of competency
    • Experience or knowledge of SAN, NAS and VMware commands/utilities
    • Experience with Active Directory/DNS
    • Experience or knowledge in storage, compute, virtualization or backup system installation and configuration
    • Experience leveraging vendor tools
    • Proficient in using various monitoring tools. (Solar Winds Orion, etc.)
    • Experience or knowledge of SAN, NAS and other storage technologies
    • Experience or knowledge of VCE VBlock platforms
    • Experience or knowledge of Fiber Channel SAN switches, HBAs and NFS technologies
    • Experience or knowledge of EMC products.
    • Proficient with blade and rack server technologies (Cisco UCS and HP DL series)
    • Proficient with VMware vSphere
    • Proficient with various server operating systems (Windows, Linux, etc.)
    • Experience or knowledge of data backup technologies and best practices
    • Ability to work successfully both independently and in teams


    Essential Job Requirements:

    • Possess a good understanding of DRC’s business functions and related systems
    • Ability to provide and support all business systems with high availability and required resources

    Reporting to this position:  No direct reports


    Physical Requirements: 

    • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time
    • Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day
    • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary
