System Analysts work primarily on more complex processes or projects new to the company or division. This position works as part of a project team to gather requirements and create functional specifications needed to develop software applications. This position will research problems, assist with proactive planning solutions, make software and system recommendations, and assist with coordinating development to meet project requirements. Other duties include writing user requests into technical specifications, acting as liaison between business users (internal and external) and development, provide estimates to complete projects, identify and track scope changes, and provide input to project schedules. 


Essential Position Responsibilities:

  • Meet with various business partners to gather and document requirements.
  • Interact with developers and architects to understand software limitations.
  • Provide recommendations utilizing use cases, charts, etc. 
  • Participate in deployment of the completed system.
  • Provide necessary components to development team.
  • Analyze systems software problems, develop technical solutions, and provide recommendations
  • Translate user and/or systems requirements into functional technical specifications.
  • Write and maintain detailed systems documentation, including user manuals and technical manuals
  • Act as liaison between developers, architects, and end users to ensure technical compatibility and satisfaction
  • Ability to effectively make written and oral presentations to end users and senior management staff

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years system analysis experience
  • 3+ years’ experience with requirements gathering tools/techniques
  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science or Business Administration or related field OR equivalent experience plus higher education
  • Familiarity with requirements gathering tools/techniques
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work successfully both independently and in teams
  • Expereience with business process redesign

 Essential Job Requirements:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Relate effectively and work respectfully with diverse work groups
  • Ability to consistently perform well during times of increased work load
  • Set and meet deadlines
  • Manage multiple job functions simultaneously
  • Other duties as needed

Reporting to this position:  No direct reports

Physical Requirements: 

  • Ability to sit and/or stand for up to 8 hour periods of time
  • Ability to look at a computer monitor, utilize a keyboard and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as necessary
